impossible funds
Many people assume that since this is America, the government does all it can to help provide for their people, especially those that are hardly able to do it on their own. That is not entirely true. Yes they do provide for their people, but to an extent. For the most part, parents with an autistic child need the help that is not there. Usually the child can only get the help they need from programs and/or some different treatments. The ones that would help the most are almost never covered by insurance and are very expensive. Of course the parents want what is best for their child therefore, try to make enough money so their child could have the help they need. At the same time, the parents are most likely barely making ends meet and living pay check to pay check. It is almost impossible for the parents to provide the funds on their own.
Even still, the lawmakers are constantly reduce the funds meant for mental illness, including autism. They say that the government needs to spend their money on their debts and more important things. Also, they believe the programs and/or treatments for autism are not much of a necessity. They think the autism programs get enough money from charity donations to have most of the expenses covered. The programs get over one hundred million dollars’ worth of donation each year. That should cover most of the expenses right? The different autism programs say things in a way that make it seem as if the donations are going to the families that need help, yet they don’t use it to help the families almost at all. They spend it on research and other things along that line. This means the parents are still not getting the help they need, even from the donations that are said to go to them.
As a result, a lot of the parents aren’t able to get the funds to get there child into a helpful program. They usually end up going without. The government needs to step in and help these people. They are using the money any ways, they might as well use it to help those in need.
